Oh honey, this is absolutely beautiful! The pace is wonderful and how their relationship is both built up and revealed to have been. It's painful and gorgeous and I was so worried that it would be too much for Lucius to face, to make the decision to continue. But you are right, I think, in that Lucius doesn't flee. He makes decisions and sticks to them as long as he can.
