He was running away for the first time in his life; running from something, someone, and the little voice in the back of his head that screamed coward.

In a heartbeat’s time, he almost fell, just barely caught himself, and stumbled around a corner, nearly out of breath.

Suddenly, he found himself staring into familiar eyes; barely recognized them, had never seen them so surprised and vulnerable before.
