This a BAD DAY.

I got up, tried to use my internet. I use a dial-up service called People PC. I connect by opening a little dialer and then once it connects the little icon on the taskbar shows how much kbps I have and then the little dialer opens up connecting to the net as a browser.

Today, it 'connected' the net but the browser didn't open up. I went back to bed. Dad got up, got on mom's pc (it has a slower connection because the modem is older), and it was working fine. He got off, I still had the problem. I restarted my computer and it worked fine and then Microsoft informed me that I had XP Service Pack 3 to install.

The bastard took so freaking long. It never fully opened, I still using some browsers, the damn thing slowed my computer down so much, and then mom needed the phone line. So I disconnected and that's when the real trouble started.

The installation never finished, connecting to the net was taking so damn long that by the time I selected to restart my computer it finally showed that I was connected to the net. Then the stupid installation said it was undoing everything since it didn't fully install. Then the stupid computer wouldn't shut off. So I uh...did a hard reboot. I turned off the surge protector to my computer.

I restart and this little thing pops up saying it's installing something and it pops off again. I try to reconnect to the net and I'm having the same problems as before.

No matter how many times I restart the computer I can't get the browser to pop up. Btw, my computer is now running the Service Package 3... I can't figure out if this is good or not. I don't think it is and I want to download the SP3 again, but I can't connect to the 'net on my computer. Oh and to really piss me off, we can't find the download disk for the dial-up program. I'm super pissed and in near tears.

So on top of all this, I have the homework I need to do for my online classes. I'm on my mom's pc. I get a max of 28.8kbps (rarely 31.6) when my own computer gets 44.8 (sometimes a 45.1). I'm depressed. I want my computer to work and connect to the internet.

So I tried to call customer service, the first number a 1-900, my phone won't let me call. The second one, I get a 'we are experience more traffic than normal call again later' message.

So the only thing I can conclude is that Microsoft fucked up my internet. Or hopefully, it's peoplepc with the problem and it will be easily fixed.

I HAVE to have my internet on my computer. I have to...

Update: Mom found the disk. I'm doing my homework and then I will deal with the tech support people in India...

My good laptop has to be sent off for repairs (Woe!) so I'm trying to do a full back up of my C: drive. Only, it says it's like 181GB or something. So, what the heck do I back it up on? The disks I have only hold 4.2GB and that's a LOT of disks. (Ugh!) Do they make special discs for this sort of thing, or do I just resign myself to having a whole pile of back up disks?

Any suggestions?

And, uhm, about all that pornography erotica on my computer? Do you think a password protect will protect it from the techs, or should I just take it all off, then put it back on when I get my laptop back?

I've got to get a case for my computer or something. The Wireless switch is broken -- probably from banging around in my backpack with my books -- and won't turn on, so no intarwebs for me. (Of course, I *knew* this would happen, which is why I bought the extra insurance....)

And WTF will my 2GB Cruzer not let me copy anything onto it, despite the fact it has like 1.81GB of free space? WTF??? Grrr. Technology.

Hi y'all-

OMG It has been a LONG last 2 days. On Wednesday my sisters and I got there and got to see Dad right away. It was so hard to see him like that. He is one 4 IVs, a respirator, and a lot of monitors. They told us that he would more than likely have to have sugary to remove a bone flap from his skull to reduce the perisher on his brain. We stayed there for a while then we sat in the waiting room. We did a lot of waiting. They have computers in the waiting rooms so I got to see all of you comments. Thank you so much that was one of the brights spots in my day.

All of my sisters came, even my sister from Kansas City came up, and the one from Chicago.

At noon on Wednesday they had to rush him in for the sugary to remove the bone flap. We didn't know until we got back from lunch. The sugary went really well. They said that it would take about 3 hours, but it only took 1 1/2 hours.

He still doesn't have movement on his left side other than involuntary movement, but his right side is moving really well. He has only opened his eyes a couple of times, but they have him heavily sedated. He can communicate by squeezing your hand. And his told us he had to go to the bathroom.

All and all he is doing better.

I know that loads of people go away in summer, and this is BY NO MEANS aimed at the person this particular fic was written for, but I've been reading as much of hp_summersmut as I can, and one thing that has REALLY disappointed me is the amount of people who haven't commented on fics written specifically for them. Surely they can't ALL have hated what was written for them, but have they just not checked the community, or did they not bother to leave a comment, or...? They can't ALL be away, surely?

I don't remember if I ever mentioned in my journal that I fell in love with a pair of shoes some months ago.

I've been inside the shoe shop a few times since I first saw them... and have been standing outside, drooling, more than once. I've tried them on, on two occasions. And really, really wanted these expensive and not very practical shoes... like, a lot!

I don't think I've ever fallen in love with a pair of shoes like that ever before!

But, I thought they were too expensive. So, I never bought them. But last time I was there, I told my mum that if they're still there next time I walk in, I'm meant to have them, and I'll buy them. Today, we passed the shop, and I stopped, trying to see through the window if they were still there. Couldn't see them. :( But mum has been looking for new shoes for autumn, and so we went inside.

I looked at a few other pairs. Tried them on... they were nothing like the ones I wanted. But on a whim, I looked over in the corner, where they usually only have snake skin shoes (real and fakes)... And guess what! My shoes! They were there!11!!!1one! :-D

... and there was much rejoicing.

Tried them on. My size. They're still gorgeous. The shop clerk asked if I hadn't been there before to look at them, and said she thought she recognised me when I nodded. Ooops? *g*

This time I tried them both on, so I could walk in them. And they are a dream! I mean, they are very high heeled, but you don't notice it! So comfortable, and so easy to walk in. My feet were so light! Apparently, it's some kind of copy of an YSL design, due to offices of designers being next door or something like that... Well-made, in Italy, I think, so no hasty Chinese product, this.

Umm... so, since I had said that if they were still there next time, and this actually was the "next time", I had to buy them. :-D And, a few days ago, I found a coupon for 10% off for this particular shop! It was an omen, y/y?

And OMG! aasdfghjkllhfd!!!!! *hugs them* My shoes! So... ( My shoes, let me show you them! )

Okie dokie, I'm going for coherency. If I fall short please let me know. You know I hate thinking... it gives me a headach. Like this damn race is doing.

As much as I would have loved having Hillary in office, the Clinton reign is over.

We are faced with 2 very strong opponents right now.

Here's what we know about McCain. He still wants to sent our young men into battle. A battle, btw, that we have no hope of ever winning. Terrorism tis too wide spread to win against it and comes from all ovr, including our own country. We'd have to fight the UK, Russia, France, Asia, India. Every country has nuclear capabilities. What are we going to do? Fight them too? McCain might be a veteren, and he might be Sharon Stones cousin, (*sncker* JK Kudos for those who know where I got that from!) but it doesn't make him right.

And here's something else... he picked a running mate that none of us want to see as president of the US should something happen to McCain. Can you imagine Sarah Palin as President? It would be the end of the word for sure! America is suppose to be ran as a Democracy, not a dictatorship, Ms. Palin! And talk about dirty laundry! Sh has 3 big loads of it that I know bout so far. And don't even get me started on her beliefs.

Here's what I know about Obama... virtually nothing at all. Not much laundry cept for the Wright issue. I know that he's kept his head throughout this race. I know that he's stayed positive and that despite McCain's dirty ad's, Obama kept his retaliation to a minimum. Some people call hima punk because of it, but I call him smart. Killing them with kindness. And it show's McCain for what he really is. Immature.

We've had McCain's kind in office before. And look where it got us. The country is in dept, we have no oil, and the poor is poorer. Personally, I would rather go with "an unknown" rather than "an known". We've been there and done that. Its definaely time for a change. Honestly... it can't get any worse than it already is. In the end, this is the way I'll be voting. Weird, huh?

So I finally got to my hotel in NYC, THREE hours late, thanks so much American Airlines *grr*, and I am wiped. I have a ton of lovely comments to catch up on and I will sometime over the next day or two, prolly, but right now I have to get some sleep.

I did go ahead and post my daily_deviant fic now, though, since I figured I wouldn't have a lot of time before Equus! Eeee! *does dan!cock happy dance*

She and I were paired up in the snapedom Summer Fest, but I wound up withdrawing due to an excess of suckitude. Still, she went ahead and did this anyway (which was posted as "gift to fest"). I am so taken with everyone's expressions. Severus is clearly not enjoying things (which was the point) and his uncle (Eileen's brother) looks like a serious piece of wizard. Even at this size the little details in his grandmother Prince's eyes are amazing.

I agree, the way the Republicans are using "community organizer," this year, with the sneer, is code for "uppity n-----r." And when they think that, they don't just mean Scary Black People, they include all people who are not True Believers in God, guns, drilling for oil, and capitalism. Constance at 16, you said it well.

So far, Obama is responding with great grace and with terrific targeted ads, most of which I'll never see except on YouTube, because he's not bothering to show them in California.

I'm going to donate some more money to the Obama campaign. You should too. Imagine McCain and Palin winning -- OMG.
