They gave him a Viking funeral, set barge to sea and watched as the flames danced and died to wind-scattered ashes.

Draco stayed after the others had gone-- others who understood that a father's worth to his son knew nothing of right nor wrong nor death-- until the water seeped into the hem of his robes and the salt stung his eyes.

And he would never say "I love you" to anyone, but he would feel it when he lifted his father's glove and pressed it to his cheek, and remembered his father's voice when he said, "Give me a Viking funeral."

Title: Unavoidable Truth
Characters: Sirius/Regulus

They whispered things— that he was as mad as he was beautiful, frightening and wrong in fundamental ways that made it impossible to separate the parts from the whole. They called him a malevolent prophet, a childish harbinger of darkness. They turned their backs to him, but never their eyes, standing in the shadows and watching him with the wary gazes of prey waiting, breathless, for the first strike of the serpent's fangs.

All but one.

So when Sirius held him— trapped by bed curtains, warmed by his brother's breath— and whispered, "You're beautiful," Regulus smiled and whispered, "I know."

I hereby declare May the official Month o' Drabbles. The goal is one drabble per day, starting May 1st and ending May 31st. I'm also doing this for various anime/manga/game series. Harry woke to the sound of screaming.

Auror training had taught his reflexes to act faster than his brain; he was up and running for the bathroom before he'd even finished blinking sleep from his eyes. After a quick assessment of the room proved that no one was bleeding to death, he turned his attention to the mirror. A fluffy-haired Draco glared back at him.

Harry snickered.

"It isn't funny," Draco shrieked and tugged at his hair, which was making a reasonable effort to defy gravity. "I should have known better than to use your shampoo."

Harry dissolved into another fit of laughter.
